Gaming Feasts Fit For Thanksgiving

Whether you’re more into turkey, you prefer ham, or you go for the sides and vegan options, feast week is upon us! And of course all the tasty real life foods we’re eating this week have us thinking about all the delicious digital delicacies in video games. So pull up a seat to the table, grab a snack, and get ready to drool over these gaming feasts fit for Thanksgiving!

Franklin’s Feast: Animal Crossing Series

We’re starting off our list with a Thanksgiving meal cooked by a turkey. Franklin’s meal for the holiday is arguably the most iconic mention of Thanksgiving in a video game. What makes Franklin’s banquet so unique is that you’re tasked with bringing him the freshest ingredients for traditional and non-traditional dishes like pumpkin pie, potatoes gratin, fish meuniere, clam chowder and more. Sure it feels a little odd going fully pescatarian for a traditionally turkey meal, but with Franklin as head chef you’ll see all sorts of new horizons on your Thanksgiving table.

The Chef’s Platter: The Monster Hunter Series

Another meal on this list cooked by an adorable set of animals, The Chef’s Platter is the equivalent of going to a Brazilian steakhouse and ordering every item on the menu, and then also having some Asian fusion take out delivered to the restaurant on top of that. We can’t deny that huge skewers of meat, a flagon of ale, some tropical side dishes, and a huge hunk of cheese are probably as delicious as they sound. Though after a feast this big, you’re more likely to find us curled up on the couch with our precious cat chef, rather than running out to slay Rathalos. In fact maybe we’ll just befriend him and invite him to dinner next time.

Koko Cuisine: Breath of the Wild

Link is owner of the Master Sword, but if we’re being honest, his culinary prowess in Breath of the Wild should also earn him the title of Master Chef. There were so many great dishes to choose from, and while Genli’s Salmon Meuniere obsession during the Warbler’s Nest side quest almost made this spot, we had to go with Koko’s multi-course meal that she prepares with Link in Kakariko Village. With a hasty veggie stew for the first course, a hot buttered apple for a palette cleanser, a tough meat-stuffed pumpkin for the entrée, and a honeyed apple for desert, this feast is the perfect introduction to this game’s breadth of cuisine.

Makeshift Dining Table Feast: Darkest Dungeon

Ok, hear us out. While this is a riskier feast, there’s nothing tastier than the potential of making a good meal from this sketchy, once lavish feasting scene. Put up a little prayer that the leftovers are still good and dig into this questionable, but full of potential feast. After all, we think those pigfolk just might make a really good sausage for your Thanksgiving turkey.

The Feast of Darkness: Dark Souls 3

Making this list more on the technicality of being called a feast, we thought this had to be mentioned, especially considering the Locust Preacher does in fact make our NPC look pretty tasty (if you’re into that sort of thing). So when we’re told “fear not the dark my friend, and let the feast begin,” we’ve opted to not fear the dark. We are pretty hungry after all.

Sweet Madame: Genshin Impact

We had to have some poultry on this list, and even if it’s not quite turkey, this roasted floral and honey glazed chicken looks to be a feast in and of itself. Sure there’s a few other dishes in Teyvat that might have the edge taste-wise, but the Sweet Madame is the perfect feast for the whole party.

Madeline’s Strawberry Pie: Celeste

We’re finishing off our list like one would any good meal: with a bomb ass dessert! This slot almost belonged to Peach’s or Portal’s cake, but we ended up picking Madeline’s Strawberry Pie because just look at that finesse on the pipework, those succulent strawberries, and that scrumptious creamy icing. Sure, it’s not much if you haven’t been collecting strawberries through your game, but part of what makes a feast worth it is all the hard work you see pay off in the dish you create!

There are so many delicious tasty treats in games that we had to leave a lot off this list, whether it was the ripe maxim tomato from Kirby, sweet rolls from Skyrim, or as one staff member mentioned, “don’t lie, you know Pikmin look delicious”.
